My business is a fee for service organization. I Only Accept Self Paying Clients
My Services also qualify for the following:
- FSA Accounts
- HSA Accounts
- Medical Tax Deductions
Some Insurance Policies allow for out-of-network coverage. If this applies to you and your provider, I will be happy to supply you with a statement with the appropriate information that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Medicaid and Medicare are Exceptions and do not offer out-of-network coverage. Additonally, Mental Health Counselors in NYS are currently not allowed to accept either of these insurances.

What To Expect On Your Initial Consultation
When you arrive for your consultation we will focus on four major components:
- What brought you to my office.
- How I work with clients
- Filling out necessary paperwork
- Scheduling your next appointment
I believe it is important for us to meet face to face and access our compatibility. If we don’t feel comfortable with each other then we won’t work well together. I will explain to you, in general terms, how we will accomplish your goals and show you a short video on EFT, so you get a feel for how it works. We will go over pertinent session information and if you choose to continue after that, we’ll schedule your next appointment. This all takes about 45 minutes. I may email you the paperwork ahead of time, or have you arrive a half hour early to do the paperwork before we meet.
Services Without Insurance Limitations, When YOU want them, For as long as YOU want!
Insurance companies and HMO’s practice the “quick fix” and do not have your best interests in mind. However, they are no longer allowed to limit the number of visits you may have.
My personal experience is that long term growth and change comes with long term care and exploration of the underlying issues. To accomplish this, you must have the freedom of choice in therapists, and time to build a trusting relationship with that counselor. By not recognizing LMHCs as valid providers they are limiting your freedom of choice. I believe that you should have the freedom to choose your counselor, even if he or she is not a member of an HMO or insurance panel and be reimbursed for your expenses under out-of-network coverage.
My services are eligible for reimbursement under your companies flexible spending/flexible reimbursement (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA)) if they have such a program and you participate in it. You must contact your Human Resources department for details.
Additionally, mental health expenses are a legitimate tax deduction along with mileage, if you itemize.
YOU Maintain Confidentiality!
When you work with me, what gets said in my office stays in my office. A counselor working with an HMO or insurance carrier must provide case notes, progress notes, treatment plans, and other pertinent information to the organization. Confidentiality is greatly compromised because this information gets entered into a central computer. The risk is that information could get out to employers, other insurance companies and with today’s technology, who knows who else may gain access to it, legally or otherwise! Do you want strangers knowing about your personal life or do you want that information kept between you and me?
